Kim Jong-un’s Unwavering Support for Russia’s War in Ukraine-Sending More Soldiers

The president of North Korea, Kim Jong-un has always been in support of Russia’s war on Ukraine. North Korea is not only a huge supporter of Russia but they have also sent a large number of fighters to fight against Ukraine which Kim thinks is a “just cause”. Recently they have made their position even stronger.

Russia’s military operations in Ukraine have passed 1,083 days with heavy losses on both fronts. When it comes to military personnel, on the Ukrainian front, many volunteer fighters have joined from the United States, the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Israel, and some other nations. On the other hand, it is believed that North Korean soldiers have been fighting in favor of Russia along with some other contract soldiers from Syria, Belarus, Central Africa, Serbia, Kazakhstan, and Armenia. But among all the soldiers, only North Korean soldiers are believed to be officially fighting for Russia against Ukraine.

In a recent statement, the North Korean leader reaffirmed his even stronger support for Russia’s military campaign saying, that the North Korean army and people “will invariably support and encourage the just cause of the Russian army and people”. Kim believes that it is a question of Russian defense, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. It is not just military equipment that the North is helping Russia with. According to South Korea, the North has around 11,000 soldiers, and they are preparing to send more to bolster Russia’s military capability.

However, according to a recent report by South Korean intelligence, the North Korean soldiers might have been pulled off the Kursk frontline since they have not been seen around for several weeks. But it has come to light that the North’s fighters have had a heavy loss yet they have “returned to the frontline after a short break”, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy confirmed.
